Dr. Dabbour is registered as a professional engineer (P. Eng.) and designated as a consulting engineer by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). He is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and certified as a Road Safety Professional - Level 1 (RSP1) and Road Safety Auditor.
Dr. Dabbour has a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering with more than 35 years of practical and academic experience in the planning, design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of all road facilities. This includes roads, intersections, pedestrian facilities, bicycle facilities, traffic control devices, and parking facilities. Since January 2020, Dr. Dabbour has investigated more than 400 engineering cases related to his areas of expertise.
Dr. Dabbour also teaches three courses in collaboration with the Ontario Good Roads Association. The first course is about municipal liability in relation to traffic accidents, the second course focuses on municipal liability in relation to traffic collisions in temporary work zones, and the third course is offered as part of the annual Road Safety School to teach municipal staff how to move from simply collecting collision data to using it effectively to prevent future collisions and save lives. Dr. Dabbour has also published more than 60 articles in leading academic journals and professional magazines.
Before starting his career in forensic engineering, Dr. Dabbour worked for more than ten years as a university professor. During this time, he shaped future engineers by teaching courses in highway design, highway maintenance, traffic safety, traffic management, engineering ethics, and engineering surveying. Dr. Dabbour is also an Adjunct Professor at the Civil Engineering Department at Toronto Metropolitan University.
